Meet Quinn!

Hey there!  I imagine you've found yourself here to learn a bit more about me, my history and all around vibes as a vocal coach.  For starters, my pronouns are they/them and I'm a nonbinary vocal coach with a testosterone influenced vocal tract. I feel that is important to share as testosterone causes the vocal tract to mature in specific ways.

How did I become a vocal coach? A lot like me, the journey wasn't a straight path.  I began my career teaching science through Zoos, Museums and State Parks.  Spending my free time writing and performing comedy.  I came across this work when I started my own transition and wanted to ensure that my voice was fully supported as I continued public speaking while starting testosterone.  Having a background in performance, natural sciences and being a general audiophile- I quickly fell in love with the work and began shifting career paths.

My mission with establishing Quintessential Voice Lessons LLC is to empower individuals to authentically express themselves and provide crucial support in navigating the deeply personal journey of affirming voice work.

My favorite thing about working with Quinn is they turn vocal training, something that should be a frustrating and difficult experience into something I actually look forward to as a highlight. Every milestone is a celebration, every session is a fun time, and the progress continues to accelerate. I couldn't recommend them any harder if I tried, they are a twenty out of ten!

In order to continue growing as an educator and stay current in the field, I take several continuing education course a year.  Some of my favorites to date have been: Gender Affirming Voice Training: A Course for Voice Clinicians (by Sandy Hirsch, MS, CCC-SLP Leah Helou, PhD, CCC-SLP Christie Block, MA, MS, CCC-SLP and AC Goldberg, PhD, CCC-SLP) and Learn to Teach Trans Voice Alteration by Renée Yoxon. I also pull from the field of acting, movement and voice through Linklater Voice, Alexander Technique, Laban Movement Analysis and the Feldenkrais Method.

As someone who is neurodiverse myself, I spend a good deal of my time outside of lessons creating inclusive and accessible learning tools for diverse learning styles.

To foster cost accessibility, a self-evaluation sliding scale is offered year round

When not teaching, I enjoy baking bread, sewing extravagant kaftans, and taking my 9lb chihuahua Barbara on long walks. I also enjoy performing comedy (standup, improv, sketch) and developing characters for my D&D campaigns.  Thank you for reading this far! I guess if you can't tell by now- at my core I'm a passionate vocal enthusiast, eager to share my expertise and excitement for voice work with others. If any of this sounds like it would mesh with you and your voice journey, don't be a stranger.  Reach out and say hey!  I look forward to connecting with you soon.
